Agilent & Eurofins Team Up for SureVector Expansion

Agilent Technologies Inc. has collaborated with Eurofins Genomics to expand Agilent's SureVector cloning system. Under this pact, Agilent will use Eurofins' technology to create custom components and assemble plasmid service for its SureVector next-generation cloning kits.

Further, Agilent will be able to offer a set of catalogue components that will enable creation of more than 1 million different cloning vectors through SureVector cloning kits.

SureVector is the world's first modular vector kit that allows biologists to put up customized vectors - small cellular DNA molecules capable of reproducing independently from standard components.

SureVector next-gen cloning kits now have standard parts of mammalian, yeast and E.coli cells and those can be customized to different biological components using Eurofins technology. The collaboration benefits the SureVector system as the process of combining functional DNA modules and assembling them in to vectors will be faster and easier than before. The hands-on processing time will come down to 30 minutes from 2 hours currently.

Uwe Koehler, head of Gene Synthesis and Molecular Biology at Eurofins Genomics, stated "SureVector is an ideal addition to Eurofins Genomics' gene synthesis and GeneStrands services."

Agilent's head of genomics marketing, Alessandro Borsatti said "the Eurofins collaboration is an exciting step forward for SureVector." He further added that customers will now have individual vectors and be able to tailor any fragment in the SureVector system.

Agilent is a leading research, development and manufacturing organization formed in 1999 as a spin-off from Hewlett-Packard. Since acquiring Strategene in 2007, it has been one of the leading providers of molecular biology tools to life sciences, diagnostics and applied chemical markets and operates across 100 countries. The company provides software, instruments, services and consumables to laboratories.

Eurofins Genomics, on the other hand, is a member of Eurofins Group and a global provider of DNA synthesis products, DNA sequencing services, bioinformatics and genotyping services to the industrial and academic research industry. With production facilities and offices across USA, Asia and Europe, the company caters to agriculture, biotechnological, food diagnostics, pharmacy and research markets with high quality services and customer support.
