What is the difference between quantitative testing and traditional qualitative testing?
Traditional wastewater testing provides a positive/negative result only. It tells you if the sample contained the target, but not how much of it. Eurofins developed a quantitative method to measure the viral load of the sample, which can be measured against comparison samples to give the approximate number of infections in the group, which is an incredibly powerful metric when monitoring large groups.
What is the coverage?
It really depends on the sample quality. We do not guarantee any specific level of coverage at this timeA good sample submitted at the required concentration typically yields hundreds or thousands of raw sequencing reads. Consensus coverage depends on how many reads are full-length plasmids and how many, if any, degraded. We do not guarantee any specific level of coverage at this time.
