Standard Oligonucleotide Modifications for custom DNA and RNA synthesis

Eurofins Genomics offers a wide variety of modifications for both DNA and RNA oligos to meet the needs of virtually any project. Modifications that are regularly stocked in-house are considered the "standard modifications portfolio." Standard modifications are listed below.

Non-standard modifications

Non-standard modifications refer to any modification that is not listed in the standard portfolio. Typically, non-standard modifications derive from a.) custom modifications supplied by the customer, b.) special requests from customers for modifications not listed in the standard portfolio, and c.) modifications that we have prior expertise with but may not keep in stock due to the infrequency of orders. Eurofins Genomics can accommodate requests for non-standard modifications. We understand that much of science revolves around experimentation and new needs arise from new techniques. Eurofins Genomics offers many more modifications in addition to the standard portfolio. Non-standard modifications are ordered as needed, which adds 1-3 days to the turnaround time. Below is a list of non-standard modifications. If you do not see the modification that you are looking for, contact us! Our chemists are always up for a challenge.

How to order non-standard modifications

If you would like to order a non-standard modification, contact us at GenomicsSupport@genomics.eurofins-info.com. Most non-standard modifications cannot be entered on the order pages, but we can handle these requests manually.

Attachment Mods

Amino, thiol, acrydite, and phosphate groups incorporated during synthesis allow post synthesis reactions for attaching a variety of labels or for coupling the oligo with other molecules.

Molecules with similar structure to DNA often readily substitute in the DNA strand for a variety of experimental uses. Modifications in this category include inosine, uridine, wobbles, etc.

How to order standard modifications

There are two ways to add a modification to a sequence. One, the designator can be entered directly into the sequencing prior to upload, and the system will identify the modification and include it during the sequence validation process. Secondly, each order page contains a dropdown list of available modifications for each position. Please note that designators are case sensitive.

How to order non-standard modifications

If you would like to order a non-standard modification, contact us at GenomicsSupport@eurofins.com. Most non-standard modifications cannot be entered on the order pages, but we can handle these requests manually.

Independent of the intended application, some modifications require further purification and/or a higher scale. Any inter-dependencies are represented on the ordering page so it is clear and transparent for customers while placing orders.
