Regulatory Sequencing

Direct Colony Sequencing

GLP and GMP sequencing is the gold standard approach for attaining high-confidence sequence data, especially for preclinical and regulated studies. By utilizing a stringent process control and QA framework, we guarantee the reliability and reproducibility of the data generated, ensuring accurate interpretation and decision-making.

Eurofins Nationwide

Nationwide Competitors

It is important to note that some competitors do offer nationwide overnight service if the customer pays for overnight shipping and certain restrictions are met. In our opinion, this is not true overnight service due to the cost and time constraints around such as service. The comparison above is an "apples to apples" comparision when taking into consideration the true cost and time required.

Turnaround Time

Overnight on tube orders*

2-3 days on large orders

2-5 days depending on logistical options and size of order

*Some restrictions apply.

  Barcoded Tubes
  • 1.5 – 2.0 mL Centrifuge tubes, with or without barcodes.
  • Fastest turnaround time, along with SimpleSeq tubes. Required for overnight sequencing.
  • Eurofins Genomics provides bar-code labels for use with templates and primers that are submitted for DNA sequencing services. By using bar-coded labels, you guarantee that each sample and primer submitted to Eurofins Genomics for DNA sequencing has a unique identifier that is tracked throughout our automated system.
  • Submitting online: Enter the barcode on the tube submission page. All tube types use the same sequencing tube submission page.

Non-Barcoded Tubes
  • 1.5 – 2.0 mL Centrifuge tubes, with or without barcodes.
  • Non-barcoded tubes are processed after barcoded tubes, so the turnaround time might be impacted slightly.
  • Additional fees may apply for not using barcodes as it requires more labor in the lab to track samples. This depends on your institutional agreement with Eurofins Genomics.
  • Submitting online: All tube types use the same sequencing tube submission page.

8 Strip PCR Tubes
  • Variety of sizes.
  • If submitting less than 8, please cut the strip and save the remaining tubes
  • Submitting online (new process): 8-strip barcodes are automatically generated by our system and displayed on the online order page. Please write these barcodes on the side of your tubes using a sharpie marker. If using the excel upload form, please leave the barcode field empty. The barcodes are a combination of your initals and a number sequence, such as DR01...DR02...et cetera. All tube types use the same sequencing tube submission page.

SimpleSeq Tubes
  • Pre-labeled
  • Tube size is 0.75 mL
  • All tubes provided with kit
  • Fastest turnaround time, along with normal barcoded tubes.
  • Submitting online: All you need to do is type in the barcode when submitting online. All tube types use the same sequencing tube submission page, except for SimpleSeq Premixed which requires no online entry.

Go to the Plate Sequencing page for details and specifications on all plate options.

Eurofins Genomics offers discounted pricing for plate orders with at least >24 samples, and the most flexible sample submission and customization of plate orders. Ready2Load Plate

  • Plate must be fully skirted
  • Post BigDye, must be ready to analyze on arrival
  • Lower cost than normal plates
  • Please use tightly capped plates to ensure no contamination.

Barcodes are used to track samples and primers in the lab. Customers who use barcodes receive a faster turnaround time. Customers enter these barcodes on the online submission page(s) to link the order to the tubes. By using bar-coded labels, you guarantee that each sample and primer submitted to Eurofins Genomics for DNA sequencing has a unique identifier that is tracked throughout our automated system.

Eurofins Genomics provides barcode labels for free. These barcodes can be applied to sample tubes and/or primer tubes. Free barcodes can be ordered on the supplies page.  In addition, all SimpleSeq kits come with prelabeled tubes and extra barcodes for primer tubes.

Submitting Barcodes on the Online Order Page

  • For free barcodes and SimpleSeq barcodes, enter the barcode on the side of the tube into the barcode field on the submission page. Standard and SimpleSeq barcodes can only contain digits. Please remove any hyphens, dashes, spaces, or periods before using a barcode.
  • 8-strip barcodes are automatically generated on the order page using your initials, i.e. John Doe would generate barcode JD1, JD2, etc. You do not need to order physical barcode labels if choosing 8-strip PCR tubes.

Need help finding your barcode?  CLICK HERE to open your Sequencing Dashboard which easily displays all barcodes in your account.

 Additional Information

  • Always adhere to sample submission guidelines to ensure that you receive the best sequence data with the shortest turnaround time.
  • Read lengths are typically >1000 although obviously results depend on sample and primer quality
  • Specific primers can be requested or enclosed
  • Over 80 free standard primers available
  • Template and primer may be sent premixed
  • Accuracy of data is greater than 99% (Q20 or better)
  • Prepayment options are available not only through SimpleSeq, but also with EVOcards

Requirements to Qualify for the Overnight Sequencing Service:

  • Samples must be sent using Eurofins Genomics digital shipping label, which are provided during checkout, and dropped off before the cut off time for next day air (UPS). Using any shipping method except for UPS overnight will not qualify for overnight sequencing.
  • Samples assembled in tubes or plates supplied by Eurofins Genomics (e.g., SimpleSeq Kits and Prepaid Plates) or barcode-labeled custom centrifuge tubes (≥1.5 mL tubes or semi-skirted plates).
  • Maximum of 192 sequencing reactions.
  • Only standard read conditions (sequencing projects that require additional services, such as PCR cleanup, Power Read, RCA, BAC reads, or primer walking are not included in the overnight sequencing service).
  • Samples must be prepared according to the guidelines provided in the Sample Submission Guidelines including the use of barcode labels.

Non-adherence to any of the above sample preparation and submission processes, including the absence of barcode labels, can result in delays. Once the samples are assembled in barcode labeled tubes and plates, please follow the four simple steps to get the sequencing results by noon of the following day

“Your sequencing reactions were perhaps the turning point in my work. Obtaining such good quality reads is rare. I have submitted many samples but this is was the best, we should explore all variable associated with the success to make it reproducible, quality, quantity of DNA to reagents used at Eurofins.”

Customer

“I've already strongly recommended Eurofins Genomics to a colleague in my department and they are now using the sequencing service. I was amazed at the turnaround time for prepaid plates and the quality far exceeds anything I've received from our in-house core facility. The quality and speed of the service combined with the price for the pre-paid plates has completely changed my lab's sequencing routine for the better.”

“I am consistently surprised and pleased with how quickly you can provide sequencing data! I dropped my samples off late last evening at my local dropbox and my results were waiting in my inbox when I arrived at work this morning! My PI and I were just joking that we make a comment every time about how the results come so quickly. Maybe we just aren't used to such good customer service. Great job.”

PROFESSOR

“We got the sequences back and are quite happy with the quality. One of the orders had amplicons that we have been sequencing routinely for many years and quality from Eurofins seems to be better. Also, our overall experience with Eurofins website, sample submission, email notifications and sequencing results was positive and user friendly. We are looking forward to sequencing with Eurofins.”
