Eurofins Genomics self-attests to complying with the framework for nucleic acid synthesis screening, including the purchase of gene synthesis equipment, gene synthesis products, nucleic acid synthesis products, and nucleic acid synthesis equipment. More information can be found on this framework below.

Further information on executive order:

The United States passed and executive order on October 23, 2023, through the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), regarding the “Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence."  As part of this effort, the NSTC established a Fast Track Action Subcommittee which released a framework in 2024 for nucleic acid synthesis screening. This framework requires federally funded life science entities to purchase synthetic DNA from manufacturers that comply with the framework. The framework contains many parts including but not limited to screening sequences for sequences of concern (SOCs), screening customers which try to order SOCs, data security, data reporting, and data storage. We encourage customers to review this framework and familiarize themselves with the requirements and timeline.

UPDATE: starting in October, 2026, the requirements for screening oligos will becoming more stringent. This page does not seek to outline all upcoming changes, but one key change is that the threshold for screening sequences will lower from 200 to 50 bases. Eurofins Genomics expects to be in compliance with these future requirements well in advance of their 2026 rollout. More information will be shared once those changes are live.
