At this time, the Teamsters Union and UPS have not yet reached a contract renewal agreement, and the looming 7/31 deadline draws near. Although most union negotiations typically end with an agreement, rather than a work stoppage, we are being proactive and planning for a potential interruption. We advise our customers to take proactive measures as well to reduce any potential disruptions to your business operations.
If the UPS strike starts on 8/1, Eurofins Genomics will execute the following shipping changes for inbound and outbound packages.
Important Changes for Customers
- Digital shipping labels, which are currently provided on the website free of charge for most sequencing orders, will switch to Fedex. Customers will need to drop packages off at a Fedex location instead of UPS location. CLICK HERE to view nearby Fedex locations.
- Sequencing customers will receive results in the evening as opposed to the morning, due to the later Fedex drop off. The sequencing lab will adjust operations to move more resources onto the day shift.
Minor Changes
- Couriers and sponsors will be switched to Fedex.
- Whole Plasmids sequencing results should not be impacted.
- The cutoff for Express Oligos will be rolled back to noon, Mon-Thurs, excluding holidays.
- All outgoing packages will switch to Fedex. We do not anticipate any significant impact to delivery time for outgoing packages.
Eurofins Genomics and UPS have a special relationship that spans back for decades. While we remain optimistic for a swift resolution, rest assured that we are fully prepared to fulfill your orders in a timely basis.
As always, Eurofins Genomics is dedicated to serving you, our valued customers, and will continue to strive tirelessly on your behalf. We will continue to send updates as the situation evolves.
